As We Wait

Jesus, Justice, and Politics

It is often said that the two things you should never talk about at a dinner party are religion and politics. The discomfort around these two topics has perhaps never been more on the surface. The decline of religious participation in America mixed with the ever-increasing reality of political polarization can often leave Christians uncertain about how to move forward. Do we enter into the public square and fight for our turf through any means necessary? Do we exit the political arena altogether and opt for religious quietism? Our aim in this Hot Topics series is to offer a different vision of Christian political engagement that invites the Church to participate in both conversation and action around matters of justice and politics, embodying the way of the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus.
